This #GivingTuesday Nov 29, Game Plan 4 Hope is raising money to help people like Connor and his family.
With your support, more people like Connor will have the opportunity to thrive and live a normal life.
Learn about Connor’s story:
July 10, 2021 is a day that we will never forget. In one single moment, our lives were changed forever. We received the knock at the door that every parent dreads. From that moment on, a movie reel of the past years events continue to play in our minds every day. From the knock at the door, a view of the police officer through the windows, the question “are you the parents of Connor Roemen?, “he’s been involved in a terrible accident”, the screams from my husband, Brett, coming from our bedroom, the feeling like I could vomit, driving by the accident on our way to the hospital wondering if he’s still alive, he’s conscious, he’s alive, he can’t feel his legs…the helicopter picking him up and flying him to SF stat, the horrific drive from Spirit Lake, IA to Sioux Falls, SD wondering what all this meant and dying to be by his side. The nearly 8 hour surgery on our 24th anniversary, praying for Gods hands to guide the surgeons as they work to decompress Connor’s spine. Connor suffered a compression fracture at T7-T8 and broke several ribs resulting in paralysis from the chest down as a result of a car accident. Miraculously, the surgeons were successful in decompressing his spine in the allotted time. Only time would tell what the outcome would be.
Time…there are days when the accident only seems like yesterday and other days it feels like forever ago. The past year has been filled with many emotions…fear, anxiety, doubt, sadness, anger and joy, power and faith, heart and soul. Connor has come so far, gained so much strength, and he’s not giving up. He’s truly an inspiration to so many. But we would not be where we are today with the support of Game Plan 4 Hope. They have been by our side since day one providing us with strength, hope, and comfort. The emotional support Missy provided us, as parents, will never be forgotten. The medical costs that we have accumulated over the course of his accident are unremarkable. Game Plan 4 Hope helped ease some of the financial burdens by providing us with gift cards when in the hospital and then again with therapy equipment once we returned home. We do not know what God’s plan is for Connor, but we know that Connor "can do all things through Christ who gives him strength” Philippians 4:13.
With your support, more people like Connor will have the opportunity to thrive and live a normal life.
